Intimacy and the Life of Faith

Many times, we go on fun rides at amusement parks, or Disney World, rarely does one hear of a visitor to the venue checking out the functionality of the machines; if they can carry out their function or able to accommodate them. Likewise, we push on the ice maker button expecting an instant ice deliver without any hesitation. It is also not uncommon to take our position on the seats at home, or diners, without a second thought if they are fit for use.

There is a story about Peter in the Bible, which portrays how we Handle our faith in God. Peter saw Jesus approaching the disciples while at a distance walking on the waters, he requested for a walk with the Lord.  So, He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he became afraid; and started to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately, Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him; He said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Jesus invited him, and he, too, started to walk on the waters. While Peter had his focus on Jesus he leveled on the water; all of a sudden, Peter’s thought diverged away from the Lord because of a little difficulty, which made him fearful, he lost the confidence to stay afloat, and he started to sink.

Many times, we run into problems we forget we have our being in the Lord who dwells within us, we begin to fret because our focus is on our ability, which can barely sustain us through the troubles we face. We start see, solutions by ourselves, get deeper into problems, and are unable to come out of those complications we create for ourselves.

A life that lives by faith in the Lord will immediately call on Him because the Lord is always right there. Even when we do not see the solution right away, His word says, “Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.; “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” (Isaiah 41:10; Psalm 50:15). David resolved in his life he will trust the Lord and said, “when I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose Word I praise. In God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me (Psalm 56:3-4)? David experienced an enormous number of troubles; Through the situations, he experienced the mightiness of God and appreciated His dependability.

It took every born-again child of God to have faith in the Lord, and honor His invitation to salvation; the walk of the grace of God continues by faith. “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” (Hebrews 10:38).

The attitude of faith the believer should exercise is, if God said it, I believe it, because “God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good” (Numbers 23:19).

The men of faith referenced in Hebrews Chapter 12 did exploits according to the scripture, where we also read about their great achievements over their dreams and various ventures, through faith. The life of faith moves mountains.
