Intimacy and Expectations

Has anyone ever wondered how to approach God to grant prayers and petitions? Have you prayed repeatedly because of unanswered prayers and concluded you are not qualified to petition God?

A few things we need to know for our prayers to be answered:

  • Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him (John 9:31). We are only assured of answered prayers when we approach our Father in heaven with clean hands, a pure heart, and truthful living (Psalm 24).
  • ” If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land”  (2 Chronicles 7:14).
  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1John 1:9).
  • If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you (John 15:17).
  • Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift (Matt 5:23-27).
  • The scripture rightly encourages importunity in our prayers, for God is just and merciful to hear us at the right time, and give us what seems best. Jesus said, ” Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matt 7:711).
  • Jesus said,” But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:33-34).
  • ” But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

The Lord assures He is with us unto the end of the world. Intimacy, according to Joshua 1:8, a catalyst to our desired expectations; reminds us, ” This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Our reading, meditation, living according to the Word, and positioned in the place of prayer keeps us in the secret place of the Highest. While we remain intimate with Him, the scripture says,” It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24).                                                                                                        We need not fear who walk in intimacy; for the Lord is always with us and our expectations will be granted (Proverbs 23:18).
