Hi, I'm Irene May

I’m Irene May and welcome to my blog Dubenzjy. I’m the author of ‘I Heard About You and Now I Know You’. It’s a guide to get to know God, overcome your hurts, and remove unwanted habits. In it, I pour out my soul in regards to my relationship with God and how He saved me from my dark past. It’s also an easy to understand guidebook for the youth to follow.

Intimacy and the Times

The current times and season warrant some enlightenment regarding the events surrounding us.

My question before we proceed is, what side do you belong?

Human inclination tends to judge by appearances and policies of rulers, but the Lord sees and weighs the intention of the heart. Currently, America is facing a decisive election; individuals are pointing fingers; we are not to reason like the world, but we can pray for our God to have His way and turn things around to elect the man of His choice. He answers when we pray.

Samuel, the Prophet was sent by God to Jesse’s house to select a replacement for King Saul after God rejected him from kingship. Samuel caught the view of Jesse’s senior son (Eliab) and concluded he was undoubtedly God’s choice for the king of Israel because of his charisma, but God told Samuel no. On this day, they did not even invite David for the contest and his brothers because the father concluded he was irrelevant for the decision at hand; he left him in the bush with the sheep. After the Lord disqualified all the brothers, they called David Bowie from the ranch. As soon as he entered the house, the Lord told Samuel he is the one (1Samuel 6).

When we are on the verge of making choices, what criteria guides our selection?

In times such as this, we Christians get lost in the moment, we judge along with other people on face value, and end up in the same error as Samuel; but God interrupted Samuel and said,” Do not look at his appearance or his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

God has always been disappointed about man.

And God looked around the world if any was righteous and saw the intention of every man is wicked and said” The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.                                                                                        Still, God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The one who has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ is a changed man” Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2Cor.5:17).                                            Ezekiel 36 predicted the heart of the transformed in Christ Jesus,” I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them” (26-27).

Usually, during elections, some policies of the incumbent and the incoming don’t align with the scriptures. Some believers prefer to remain undecided. Child of God, the times, and earthly decisions are full of imperfections.

What is the role of the child of God at such times?

The following are some guiding facts from the scripture:

  • The world is still currently in the age of grace. This privilege of God is available to the unbelieving sinner who may not make the right choice. When the period of grace is over, then comes the judgment of God on who refuses to believe (John 3:18).
  • He has not come to the world to condemn the world, but for the world to receive salvation. The focus of the born again should be mercy and compassion and be a light to lead the unbeliever from darkness to light through our prayers and examples.
  • The Lord makes kings and rulers, Romans 13 says,” Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except God, and God appoints the rules that exist” (v. 13).
  • And above all, “So Jesus said to them again, Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
  • For this, you are called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:” (1Peter 2:21).

Jesus’ prayer life is an exemplary embodiment of the present living, before He makes any move. His disciples emulated Him; we should also pray. When we pray, we enjoy the peace of God above all else.” Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7)
