Intimacy and The Word

Do Christians find assurance, peace, joy, strength, and consolation in the Word of God?

The book of Genesis starts with the statement of creation, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” (Genesis 1:1-2). Subsequently, many other verses in the book stated, and God said, followed by, and it was. Furthermore, in Genesis chapter 1, v. 26, “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; “Then God created man in His image, gave man the authority, dominion, and blessed them. In verse twenty-six of Genesis, God pluralized the participants of the spoken Word, which brought everything alive and into existence.

We may dig deeper into the significance of the Word by looking at some Bible references.

The book of John testifies to the ancient Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was at the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (1-5). He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and his own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (10-14).

Also, Jesus speaks about the power in the Word and the life-giving Spirit. “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The Words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63). The son of God, the participant at creation, exposes the secret in His Word as not ordinary. He revealed its weights are life and Spirit. We can connect the power in His Word to be similar to the spoken Word at creation, “And God said, let there be, and there was. Jesus manifested the same attribute while on earth, He spoke His Word of power, manifested as healing, deliverance, various signs and wonders “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38).

When Jesus was preparing to depart this world, He declared the following: “Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” (John 16:7). ” Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and he will shew your things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” (John 16:13-14). “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49).

The day we accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we were born anew with the Spirit of God who indwells us. As we read, meditate, and live on the truth of the Word, the Holy Spirit increases our capacity in the things of God, and there is no limit to our Spiritual expansion (growth). When we remain in Him, we develop the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit for the work and development of the kingdom of God.

On a final note, the Word Jesus said is life and Spirit; it’s also fire, hammer, quick, sharp, and powerful; it gives joy. “Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29). “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12). “Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.” (Jeremiah 15:16).

Read the Word of God and meditate on it daily. Speak the Word to your life, loved ones, and others; it shall come to pass. “I said, you are gods, and all of you are children of the Highest.” (Psalm 82:6).
